Guitar Overhaul. Pt. 1

Photobucket

So near the beginning of the summer, some of my friends and I decided to take our first guitars and overhaul them. First guitars tend to be junk, so we were basically polishing turds. Mine was a Jay Turser Les Paul knock-off. It had a bolt-on neck, so we were good to go.

As far as guidance, seeing as none of us had painted a guitar before, we had the help of the Paint Your Own Guitar e-books. I also found a blog from a while back that had some good information called Brad Sucks. I'll find the link later.

But the first step here was to dismantle this beastcaster.

So I'm back. Right now, I'm at college in my first semester, and I'm trying my hardest to get out. Music school was a lot tougher than I thought it would be, which makes me feel pretty worthless when I consider myself a musician. I'm trying to go back home to the burgh and go the community college route for a while. We'll see how everything turns out.

I've been listening to a bunch of new music lately, and it's been getting me through some of these things. A friend turned me onto this band, Bears Repeating. They're pretty damn good. I especially like their song Go Kid Go. Their entire EP is available to download for free on their website: http://www.bearsrepeatingband.com/

I think my next series of posts will be about the project I completed in the summer. A couple friends and I took our crappy first guitars and re-painted them. More to come on that later.

Hello

Well hello there. This is my first post in unchartered territories. I've never really tried anything like this before, mostly because I never have anything to say. I suppose I'll probably get tired of this after a month or so, but until then, feel free to be bored by my random nothingness.
